Who Wants to Talk Politics?

Although you all know I'm not deep into politics, the election next year has got me thinking on several different levels as to what I want in a new leader of our great country. I googled and found several different presidential candidate "quizzes" that helps determine which of the current candidates matches up to your beliefs the best. (here is one: http://ontheissues.org/Quiz.htm) After taking a handful of these they have determined for me that John Edwards is the best match for what I believe we need in a new president. And after reading his views on several of my main concerns I'd have to agree. And so that got me doing even more searching. I found an article from Newsweek:

It was very interesting and that led me to another link for an article by Steve Kirsch, who according to his website: "is a philanthropist and entrepreneur based in San Jose, CA. He is CEO of Abaca, an anti-spam company. He has donated millions of dollars to environmental and world safety issues."

I think you will find it interesting. I know I did. It also led to other scary thoughts regarding climate change and global warming consequences. Now, I'm no scientist, but if what he writes about is true, (and it seems he has done a lot of research), it is quite a scary thought. He states that there is over a 5% chance of the human population being destroyed due to global warming in the next 90 years. If that is the case, this will most certainly affect our children and grandchildren. I know that this is something I do not want to risk. John Edwards seems to be the best candidate at this time to fight global warming. I am taking that seriously with my candidate selection in the next year's election. I guess what I'm getting at is that I hope you all will also take our planet into consideration no matter who you vote for next year, because be it 90 or 900 years that we have for the human population, that is not long enough. (Now by all means, please do not take this as me trying to persuade you to vote for Edwards, I am not trying to do that. I always try to abide by the rule of two things to never debate about with friends and family: religion and politics. These are just my 2 cents.)
