Zoo play date

Watching the sea otters w/ Daddy
The other weekend we made a date w/ the Mueller's to hit up the zoo.  The weather has been so nice we thought it would be a fun little weekend play date!  We met there at 3:15 only to find out the zoo closes at 4:00!  Oops!  But after buying season passes (the entrance fee to the zoo is ridic!) we got to quickly enjoy one full portion of the zoo.  Charlie seemed to really like the otters and the fish.  She has an aquarium at her daycare that she loves so a giant tank full of big salmon was really cool to her!  :)
Wow!  That's a big aquarium!

Looking at the "kitty cat" (aka: Leopard)
After the 45 minutes we had at the zoo the Mueller's were nice enough to invite us back over to their house for some chicken fajitas (which were AWESOME) and some more play time for the kiddos.  Charlie and Greyson seemed to enjoy each other's company and played really well together.  They both loved the bubbles and both were saying "bubble, bubble" over and over.  They really are cute together!  And Greyson put the Puma pimping moves on Charlie.
Check out Greyson's smooth moves!

Thanks Mueller's for the fun play date!  We'll have to do it again soon (especially since we splurged on the season passes at the zoo!) and next time we'll host the dinner!

Weekend recap: Boy or Girl?!?!

Still loving this fish eye lense (it's hilarious!)
Wade has been in Monterrey since Sunday and so it's been almost a week since Charlie and I have gotten to see him! We miss our hubs/dada! Luckily he comes home this afternoon! Yay! Since Wade was gone we spent some time down in DeMo over the weekend.  I threw out the idea of a ladies night on Friday since I'd have my parents to watch Charlie and was so excited when most of the girls said they could make it.  We went out to eat at Trostle's Dish which serves tons of different tapas and it was soooo tasty!  After a delicious dinner we headed to Bradley's Pub to continue on the night of celebrations.  After all, we had several things to be happy about.  I was down visiting, there was an engagement for Jenni, and we got to find out the sex of Kara and Todd's baby earlier that afternoon!  It was so great to see my ladies!  And we even ended the evening picking up Todd and his friend Conor and singing some karaoke.  Oh yes, it was that kind of night.  :)

Charlie and I had the privilege of joining Kara and Todd for their big sex reveal ultrasound on Friday afternoon!  We were so excited to find out and of course the ultrasound tech made us wait until the very last minute to find out!  It seemed like it took forever!  In the end though it was determined that Kara and Todd are having a little BOY!  Oh boy!  We don't know what to do with boys in our household!  It definitely will make things interesting and I'm oh so super duper excited to get to meet the lil booger in June!
Charlie & Uncle Todd

We are so thrilled for them and cannot wait for June to hurry and get here!  Charlie can't wait to have a baby cousin!  She loves babies!!!  :)
She also loves doggies obviously.
In other news, Charlie is now walking 99% of the time.  It's about time!  She's been able to walk for about 5 months now but just chose to continue with her little butt scoots.  No longer!  She's now up and walking (soon to be running I'm sure!)  She's such a little toddler now.
We have an escapee from diaper change time!

We had some quality family time the rest of the weekend and watched the superbowl and ate and drank a lot.  Charlie got her first tutu thanks to Auntie Kara and a pretty headband from Omi and looked absolutely adorable in them!
Pretty as a princess!

It was a great weekend besides the fact that Wade was missing.
Charlie loved our old school keyboard!

Happy 8 Months!

Little Charlie Monkey is 8 months old today! I can't believe she's growing so fast! Today we bought a big girl stroller for her and she loved taking a stroll around the neighborhood and being able to actually see everything! She also got to try American cheese slices today and seemed to really like them. She's starting to try to use her sippy cup but hasn't quite grasped the fact that she has to tilt it up to get the liquid to flow so she just puts it in her mouth and bites at it waiting until I tip it up enough for her to drink from. She's silly.

Anyway, happy 8 months little girl! You make Mommy and Daddy so happy and proud!

Love~

Solid Achievement!

Charlie has turned into a pro at eating solids! We've even tried Puffs and she seems to like them. The first time she tried them she gagged and made the funniest faces but now she's eating them like a champ. And Kobe is also a fan since she seems to drop just as many as she eats. I have a feeling Kobe's new favorite place will soon be directly under Charlie's highchair. :)

Lah Tee Dah

Not much new to update you guys on this week. We went out to Stella’s Restaurant last Saturday to celebrate Erika’s 30th birthday and enjoyed their rooftop patio. We even closed the bar down which has been unheard of in my pregnant state! I drove the drunko’s through a T Bell stop at 2 am which I was needing just as badly (if not worse) than they were. I was starving and inhaled those tacos like a fat kid eating cake! We’ve done the drunken T Bell late night drive thru too many times to count but this was my first time being the sober driver! A totally new experience! :)
I think I’ve been hungrier this week than any of the previous ones which is amazing b/c I didn’t think that was possible. I’ve been eating non-stop it seems. In fact the peanut butter Twix bar I just ate was quite tasty and I wish I had another one already. Amazingly I’m still in the acceptable weight gain range. Not sure how that happened but I’m up about 19 pounds which at 26 weeks ain’t too shabby.

Then last night Wade put up the new blinds I bought for Nugget’s room. They are white faux wood. A lot cheaper than the real deal and I think they look just as nice. Now I just need to get my mom to shorten the drapes I bought and then we can hang those as well! Other than that we still need to get a rocker/glider, a rug and some bedding and then this nursery will be damn near complete! I’d say we’re ahead of the game and that makes me one happy camper! And if anyone can recommend a rocker/glider that they like that won’t break the bank please let me know. Wade doesn’t like the traditional glider look, and I’ve got to say I agree w/ him but it’s all I’m finding that isn’t a ton of money. So does anyone know of any gliders/rockers that don’t look like those “traditional” gliders? Leave me a comment if you do!

There's an alien inside me!

Just within the last day I've finally realized that these movement feelings I've been having in my gut are probably the baby moving and karate chopping and ninja kicking my innards. Up until just a day ago I just assumed it was gas because lets face it, pregnant women are gas QUEENS. I don't know what it is about being pregnant but even before you know you are knocked up you have already started farting. Hell, it was my very first symptom but I just assumed I must have eaten something that didn't like me b/c I certainly didn't feel pregnant yet and it was too early to take a test. I would wake up and walk to the bathroom and the first thing I did was fart. For me this was strange but I didn't really think much of it. Now of course being older and wiser I know that was the first sign that I was pregnant. Farts. Awesome.

I've got to say these movements are a pretty cool feeling. They don't hurt b/c the baby is still very small. As of now the baby measures approximately 5.5 inches crown to rump. So that's not even including those little ninja kicking legs. How about that!?! I still have a hard time believing that something is growing inside of me. I'm sure once the baby gets bigger and starts kicking the ever loving shit out of my intestines and bladder I'll take that back. But as of now these little movements are a welcome feeling.

The only complaint I have as of now is that I cannot sleep. My assumption is that this is just going to continue to get worse too so that totally sucks ball sack. I've gained about 7 pounds and so I'm not a TON bigger and have a long ways to go but I already feel like this pressure is on me when I lay down and then I can't get comfortable. I am waking up just about every hour during the night usually just to switch positions. Having a belly means not sleeping on your stomach (which sucks) and pregnant women aren't supposed to sleep on their back b/c of some pressure from the baby/uterus pressing on a main artery and cutting off blood supply (which also sucks) so I just can't seem to get comfortable. This is where alcohol would definitely come in handy to help me sleep but damn the man I can't have that either. So basically I'm screwed.

Coming up next Thursday is our BIG ultrasound! I can't even explain to you how excited I am to find out if this baby has a peen or a vajayjay. But it is eating me up inside I'm so excited!

Speaking of eating... Gotta go. I'm hungry now.
Because no post is complete w/o a picture please enjoy this lovely photo of Kobe with wonk eye.

Pot Baby

Back in my college days I was known to smoke some pot every now and then. And really, who didn’t toke up every once and a while back in college? If you say you didn’t you are lying. Even Bill Clinton admitted to it and he saying he didn’t inhale is total bull shit in my book. Regardless, don’t judge, I haven’t been near pot in ages (my fun college days are way behind me, dammit).

Pot made me hungry 99.9% of the time that I smoked it. I remember one time after enjoying a little pot I was so ravenous I attacked the pantry trying to find something to eat. Unfortunately, being a broke college student the pantry had ramen noodles, peanut butter, saltines and granola bars in it. That isn’t much to work with. At least you’d think it wasn’t. However in my genius pot haze I thought of the best plan ever. To dip the chocolate chip granola bars into the jar of peanut butter. I remember my sister and I standing in the pantry doorway like hungry wolves over a carcass engorging ourselves w/ peanut butter covered granola bars. You’d have thought it was the most fabulous meal cooked by a world famous chef the way we inhaled these things. Looking back I’m sure had we been sober they would have tasted decent enough but nowhere near good enough for us to be shoveling them in our mouths the way we did. And one other time I ate an entire medium pepperoni pizza by myself. The whole thing. In one sitting. And I locked myself in my boyfriend’s room so no one else would even dare try to take a slice. (No wonder I gained the freshman 15…) Talk about a little pot piggy.

After my pot use was over and I grew up into a mature adult (ahem...) I became a fairly picky eater. I’d only be in the mood for certain foods and if that isn’t what Wade wanted too bad for him b/c that is the only thing I can even think of eating.

Not anymore.

Give me anything.

I don’t care what it is.

I’ll eat it.

It’s like I’m a human garbage truck. And I’m eating non-stop. It’s like I’m back in college and smoked pot again and all I can do is think of eating.

Anyways, I’ve come to think that this baby is the equivalent of really good pot. Minus the nonstop giggling and me saying “what?” over and over. So basically this baby makes me want to eat anything and everything. You’d think I was a starving Ethiopian child the way I want/dream/think about food all the time. So if you ever have the pleasure of enjoying a meal with me while I am expecting you’d better watch your hands. If they even start to move toward my plate there is a good chance I will bite your finger off.

And eat it.

Ciao!

The Post in Which I Talk About: Pizza, A New Car, Spewing out Babies and France*

I’m baaaccckkk…

This past weekend was yet another in a long line of plan less weekends. We started out the weekend w/ nothing planned and no clue what we would do. Friday we went to a happy hour after work which turned into dinner and drinks at The Leaning Tower of Pizza. (If you live in/around Minneapolis and you’ve never been there you are totally missing out on some of the best pie ever. Seriously, this stuff is effing rad. I love the Italian Stallion. It is so. damn. good. In fact now I am craving it again… But then again who wouldn’t love some Italian Stallion? Bow chicka wow wow.) Saturday was spent shopping and then hanging out w/ some friends and going to Sandy’s to get the town’s best burger and cheese curds. And Sunday I spent at Mel’s baby shower.

Speaking of babies, while at the baby shower I got a text exclaiming Baby Ross was born that morning. (Congrats Amanda & Steve!) Also over the weekend we found out that one of our few NBP (No Baby Peeps) are now expecting. Wade and I’s pool of friends to go out with just got that much smaller. We are now definitely in the minority of our friends by not having a baby or being preggo. Out of all of my friends I have so many that are preggo right now I had to make a list w/ their due dates so that I could remember them all. I actually made a list w/ all my friends babies on it too so that I can keep them all straight. There are just way too many! Is that sad? Am I a bad friend for not putting it all to memory? Well, if I’m a bad friend then so are some of my other friends b/c when I told them I had this said list they asked for a copy of it so that they could add on and start their own! Seems like I’m not the only one with this problem and lack of memory space for eight trillion baby names, birthdates, etc. I think I should have charged for my list. Haha.

Between now and August Mel and Peter’s baby is due in March, my good friend Kristin and her hubs Chris are due in June, the Anderson’s are due in June, an old co-worker’s wife is due w/ twins in June, a childhood friend (Lesli & Tim) due in July and now the latest of the bunch (who I will not name b/c I’m not sure who all they’ve told yet) are due in August. That is 7 babies in 6 months. Craziness.

While there are times that I ponder if we should start trying now b/c our social life has seriously taken a beating due to not having any NBP’s to go out with and I’m scared once we do start trying we will have troubles conceiving and sometimes Wade drives me bat shit b/c he says he is bored (and a baby would definitely cure his boredom!), but I always end up knowing that our decision to wait until Wade is done (or at least close to being done) with his MBA is a wise decision. Plus, Wade got accepted into one of the MBA travel abroad courses and we are going to France in June/July! I. Can’t. Wait!!!! I’ve only been outside of the US 3 times before: twice to Mexico and once to the Caribbean. Those don’t really count though. Just like Canada doesn’t count. B/c basically they are attached to the US and make them our neighbors and although great neighbors, I don’t consider that traveling abroad. Do you? It’s like cheating. We are also going to go to Sturgis this August and I definitely do not want to be preggo there. The heat would kill me and my unborn fetus and not being able to drink at Sturgis is like not being able to gamble in Vegas. What’s the point?

Anyway, I feel at times that babies are being spewed at me left and right and I have to duck, dodge and flail to avoid being smacked w/ the baby virus. Don’t get me wrong, I love babies. They are cute and cuddly but they are also filled with vomit and poop. I’m not ready for that yet. Plus Wade and I just bought my dad’s old BMW Z3 convertible which isn’t exactly baby friendly. It’s only a 2-seater so there wouldn’t be anywhere to put the baby and I’d end up driving around w/ it in my lap just like Britney Spears. And she went all loco on us and I don’t want that to happen to me b/c Lord knows you guys don’t want to see my hoo-ha and I definitely do not look good bald (I’m assuming).

Speaking of babies, I’ve got to run. I’m meeting my girlfriend, Becca for lunch at Applebee’s and she’s bringing her lovely little twins, Courtney & Quintin. I can’t believe that in April they will be 1 year old already. Time flies!

Update: Well I couldn’t get this out before lunch, so I am back from lunch and I have to say that Becca amazes me. How she can handle 2 little ones so easily is beyond my comprehension. I am praying that I do not have twins b/c that would be a lot of work! So… knowing my luck I will have triplets. Damn it.

*Me talking about France is kind of funny b/c of one of Wade’s racing buds, Itchy. One of the first times I met Itchy was at a weekend long race and on one of the nights I had been drinking (big surprise!) and he noticed that I am kind of raunchy after downing a few. He was flabbergasted that I was talking about farts or poop or something gross. He said that he thought my family and I were “sophisticated and sat around talking about France or something”. To that I just about died laughing. Yeah, France. Right.
