I've got a new shitter!

While I was in Des Moines all weekend for a wonderful baby shower hosted by my gorgeous and generous friends and sister, Wade was back home working on installing the new bathroom tile floor. Originally we thought that if he started first thing Saturday morning he could have it done and the toilet back in on Sunday night by the time I got home. Unfortunately that was not the case. This called for an impromptu one night longer stay for me in Des Moines b/c a pregnant woman cannot be in a house without a toilet. That would be HORRIBLE.

So I drove home this morning bright and early and went into work for the afternoon while Wade finished up on installing the toilet so that I wouldn't have to freak out about where I was going to pee every 30 minutes when I got home. And he just texted me this...
LOVE it! Do you remember the 'before' pic? If not, I'll remind you...

This is one millionty times better! I am so excited! Now we just need to get the faucet in and the new mirror and lights and we are SET! Wade is such a great handyman. I'm a lucky lady.

Ain't Nothin Gonna Break My Stride (or Waddle)

Today is a big day. Well not really. But I like to pretend it is. Today is my 35/35. I’m in my 35th week of pregnancy and have 35 days left to go. Pretty rad when you think of it that way. 35 days is only a little over a month and it makes it seem so close. But then somehow it still feels so far away… Hmmm…

Regardless, today is a good day. It’s bright and sunny out (although hot and muggy and making me swell, but we are only focusing on the good stuff) and my wonderful co-workers are throwing me a shower tonight. I’m looking forward to some more socializing! And I’m wearing my favorite maternity dress which is long so it’s hiding my cankles! Although it’s not hiding my little sausage toes. Oh well. Can’t win em all.

Last weekend, Shannon and Derik’s wedding was beautiful and a ton of fun. This fatty even made it out on the dance floor and even dropped it low. And then I promptly needed Wade’s help to get back up. :)

Kara, the beautiful bride Shannon and Me

Wade made a bra! He's so talented!

My mom is obsessed with talking to little Nugget. Even while we are out dancing she starts trying to talk to her. :)

Me, my Mom and Kara

My hugeness, my Dad and Kara

This weekend I get to drive down to Des Moines for my final baby shower hosted by my good friends Ang and Katie and my sis, Kara. I can’t wait to get to see all my Des Moines girlfriends one last time before having this kiddo. I wish I got to see them more often…

While I am in Des Moines lucky Wade gets to work on continuing our bathroom remodel. We purchased a shit ton of shit (yes, my vocabulary rocks) from Home Depot this week and he will be tearing out the old sky blue heinous tile flooring and replacing it with some new natural colored tiles, putting in a new sink/vanity that actually has some storage for our tiny bathroom and hanging white wainscoting on the walls. Lots of work! I can’t wait to see it when I come home on Sunday! Needless to say he’ll be working his tail off this weekend and even after all that our bathroom STILL won't be completely done. We still are going to replace that fugly mirror and the lights above it. Sorry hun! But know that I appreciate all your hard work in trying to get our house ready for little Nugget! :)

You can just barely see the icky sky blue tiles that don't match anything. Ew. And that mirror has got to go ASAP.

Other than that, nothing else new on our home front. How bout ya’ll? Any fun plans for the weekend? I can’t believe next weekend is already the 4th of July holiday. We normally would spend it out on Lake Bracken soaking in the sun and water and drinking in the booze. This year I suspect it will be MUCH lower key. Bah. Oh well. Next year.

Help me Baby Jeebus

I know. I’ve been MIA. Again. I had a beautiful baby shower last weekend and got some wonderful gifts from my very generous family and friends. This is going to be one well dressed little girl! However, my brain is totally elsewhere. It’s like I can’t concentrate at all. I’ve been swamped at work and it’s been so hard to focus on anything. With only 6 weeks separating me from my due date I’ve gotten a bit nervous. But also a bit excited. And scared. And thrilled. And anxious. And, well, you name it and I’ve probably felt it. I have such frequent mood changes it's like I'm bipolar. I am so ready to be done being pregnant but at the same time that means that I’ll have a baby. I’ll be a MOM. My entire life as I know it will drastically change and there is NO GOING BACK. And, well, that freaks me the eff out. (Although being able to sleep on my stomach again will be sooooo nice)

I asked Wade the other day if he was nervous at all to become a dad. His answer? Nope. Not in the least. And you know what? That pisses me off. Why does he have all this confidence that I am so obviously lacking? I feel like I shouldn’t be having these doubts, but I know NOTHING about being a mom. I know NOTHING about caring for a newborn except for how to change a diaper and that is only b/c I practiced on Kobe the other week. (And yes, he HATED it. Sorry little buddy.)

This is his 'I'm so totally pissed off at you Mom' face.

I feel so utterly unprepared for this even though it looks like the baby fairy threw up all over our house w/ little pink onesies, blankets, rattles, bibs, diapers and everything else you could even dream of.

In one week if I were to go into labor the doctors would not stop it. Even though little Nugget would be a little bit undercooked she’d be far enough along that the doctors no longer would feel the need to intervene and stop the labor from progressing. That means that in one week I could technically have a baby at any moment. Yes, I realize that going into labor that early is rare. But it happens. And I’m not ready! I’m scared shitless.

So… any words of advice? Any positive thoughts? Any ice cream or cookies? Send them my way!

We picked up our recliner last week so our final piece of furniture is in the nursery. Now all I have to do is organize/clean it so that a baby can actually live in there and get some final necessary items and we're set! (Ignore the massive mess!)

We have our final childbirth class tonight and then tomorrow we head out to my good friend, Shannon’s wedding. I'm looking forward to having something to get my mind off things. And it will be fun watching my family and friends get drunk. Although it would be more fun if I could get drunk with them. All in due time…

xoxo~

Less than 8 weeks left of cooking time!

Happy Friday love cakes!

I’m so glad it’s the freaking weekend. Even with Monday off the week felt long, didn’t it? Yesterday we had Nugget’s 32 week doctor appointment and everything looks great! They did another ultrasound and found that the placenta has moved up along with the growth of the uterus so I no longer have placenta previa and am cleared for a normal birth! No c-section required!

Nugget is weighing in at approximately 4 pounds 2 ounces and is in the 55th percentile for size. Tech said the blood flow looked good and her heartbeat was 128 and strong. We also saw her stomach had fluid in it which means that she is swallowing correctly. She must really like all the junk I’ve been feeding her! :)

Here is the best pic we got of her. I know I am biased but I think she is adorable. She’s filled out so much in the 4 weeks since we last saw her. What a big girl we have! I’m getting so excited to meet her…
In other news this weekend looks to be fairly uneventful. I’m meeting Wade out for happy(less) hour after work tonight (it’s only happy(less) for me, everyone else who can drink calls it happy hour). Tomorrow I’ll probably just get more of the much needed chores done around the house and Sunday Wade is in his first ever triathlon. He’s pretty excited about it although I’m not sure how excited he is to be doing the running portion on a broken toe. Oh well. No one is forcing him to do this. He willingly signed up! :) He gets no sympathy from me! (Yes, I’m an evil bitch). Haha!

I’m also hopeful that we can get a recliner/rocker picked out for Nugget’s room this weekend. Then we can get the room laid out and stuff hung up and consider it 99% done! I love being able to check things off my to-do list.

I hope ya’ll have a SPLENDID weekend!

You've got to pay the troll toll...

Dorks on parade :)

Memorial Day weekend was great; as expected. The fam came up and we enjoyed perfect weather! Saturday we picked up Kara’s wedding dress and then went to watch Wade race down in Elko for their ‘Eve of Destruction’ event. It was actually a ton of fun. They had regular racing throughout the night but then they also had some fun things like motocross jumping, school bus racing and ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ jumping interspersed throughout the night. The best was when they ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ jumped a school bus off the ramp. Hilarious! And even better yet, Wade won his race! So the night was not only a lot of fun but a success!

Sunday we relaxed all morning and then went mini golfing and eventually made our way downtown for the Twins game. The weather was not cooperative during the first 3 innings but eventually cleared up and the Twins won! So another fun and successful night!
Look at the sky! Amazing! And yes, we were in the nose bleeds!

Thursday is our next ultrasound to check the placenta again and see if it has moved further from the cervix opening. So I’ll have some more pics to share of our little Nugget later this week. I can’t wait to get to see her again! :) At this point she is supposed to be near 4 pounds! She’s getting so big. Well, at least I’m assuming she is b/c I DEFINITELY am! Ugh!

Other than that nothing too big going on this week. I plan on starting in on the massive amount of laundry that I need to do before Nugget arrives. That should be a blast. And hopefully Wade and I will find a recliner that we can agree on to put in Nugget’s room so we can get her room put together finally. Such exciting lives we lead… :)

Only 8 more weeks until I can enjoy a nice cold one. Mmmm... (Don't you love how I count down to drinking?)

Hope you all had a splendid long weekend and have an even better week!

xoxo~
