Turkey Time!

Charlie’s first Thanksgiving was a success. Despite Charlie having her first cold she was a champion traveler! We drove down to Waverly on Thanksgiving morning for Thanksgiving with my parents, Kara, Todd, Aunt Ranee, Uncle Ken, cousins Cody & Kris and Kris’s girlfriend, Morgan. It was Charlie’s first time meeting them all except for Aunt Ranee and she seemed to love them all which was no surprise to me! We ate some delicious food, played some pool, had floor play time w/ Charlie, watched some football (which Charlie loves!), drank some wine (Kara drank a little too much wine, as did I, oops) and enjoyed the family.

Football fan!
Friday morning after a tasty breakfast we headed south to Galesburg to meet up with Wade’s family. We got there just in time for another delicious meal courtesy of my MIL, Becky. It’s no lie that these holidays are going to be the death of my weight loss goal (I gained 2 of the stubborn 4 pounds I’d lost back, gah!). Charlie got to meet two of her uncles, Adam and Aaron for the first time and was finally held by her grandpa Gary. I guess he deemed her big enough to hold finally and wasn’t afraid of breaking her. :)

Her grandma Becky bought her an inflatable ducky tub and we had fun bathing her in it. She really enjoys bath time for the most part and I can’t wait until she can sit up by herself and play in the water which won’t be long as she’s getting to be a pro at this sitting up assisted thing. I think she’s going to be a water lover! (Beware below: Baby nudity w/ gratuitous big baby belly included!) :)

All in all it was a ton of fun getting to see everyone and enjoying our first Thanksgiving as a family of 3! Oh and don't worry. Kobe came too and got plenty of leftovers and loving as well! And yes, he's still stealing her Boppy.

Now we're really looking forward to Christmas! Can we say spoiled? B/c Charlie is definitely going to be one mega spoiled little girl come Christmastime.
Some fun updates on Charlie:
* She is the drool queen which means she will be found w/ a bib around her neck 99% of the time. So much for her cute outfits! Some fun updates on Charlie:
* She's starting to grasp her own bottle and hold it although if it falls out she can't get it back in so we still have to help.
* She's mastered grabbing her toys!

* She loves to be stood up and put weight on her feet. We may have an early walker, who knows!

* She still hasn't rolled over but she's gotten very close and she is much better at tummy time and will tolerate it for more than 15 seconds now!
* She squirms and moves around so much in her sleep that she has done a complete 360 rotation in her crib. It's hilarious to see what position she ends up in when I go in to get her in the morning.
* She is sleeping through the night about 1/3 of the time. The rest of the time she wakes up once to eat and then we can usually get her right back down. Usually. :)
* She's a talker!
* We've finally gotten more giggles out of her and they are the cutest sounds my ears have ever heard! :)
* She loves it when her daddy swings her from side to side in his arms.

* She also loves foot rubs. What a pampered baby girl!
* She's getting good at sitting up w/ a little assistance from a propped pillow or her Boppy.

Coming up next week: Charlie’s 4 month birthday (I can’t believe she is 4 months old already!) and her 4 month check up appointment (yikes, more shots!) as well as her first night with a babysitter! Yes, I’m already nervous about it. No need to tell me I'm paranoid. So we’ll have some fun updates for you then!

Wordless Wednesday
To the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse:

* Little beggars sidled up to the bar to beg for holiday food (they will look this way the whole coming weekend).

~MERRY CHRISTMAS!~
And since that one is kind of boring, here's a cute one:
(Sorry, I know this isn't wordless. I'll do better next time.)

We’ve got a Rug Muncher on our Hands!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks to the shitty Midwest weather we didn’t get back in town until 11pm Sunday night and I was too much of a cranky bitch yesterday (and SWAMPED at work) to post. I am now recovered and thought it would be nice to grace you with my presence back in blog land. Hello again and welcome back!
Every Thanksgiving (actually every holiday for that matter) consists of plenty of driving for Wade and me. We generally start out at one of our families and then a day or two later continue onto the next family. Round trip we end up driving for about 14 hours total. It kind of sucks, but in the end it is totally worth it to be able to see everyone. This Thanksgiving was no different. We began by heading down to Des Moines to visit my side of the family. My Mom, Aunt Ranee, Kara and I consumed what can only be approximated as a tub of wine on Thanksgiving (the men got annoyed and watched football). Things that happened after that I don’t have the sharpest recollection of however Wade has graciously reminded me of some of them:
Consensus: I’m super fun when drunk and I should be drunk more often.
The next morning at 4:30 am Wade and I had to wake up to drive to Galesburg to get there in time for his grandpa’s funeral. That sucked. I felt like there was an earthquake going on in my head. There are a lot of mundane details in between all of this and the rug munching incident. Should I just skip through it all? Yeah why not.
Shortly after eating our 2nd Thanksgiving meal at Wade’s mom’s house we settled in by the fire, drank some more wine/beer and started playing cards. After a game or two of kicking ass, Wade’s Aunt Deb and I got up to go get some more wine. We enter the kitchen and see Kobe on the rug beneath the sink. But he’s not looking normal. He looks… guilty. I flip on the lights to better inspect him and whatever the hell he is doing in there. At first I don’t notice anything odd other than the rug is folded over at the corner. So I lean down to lay it flat and then I see it. A piece of red rug drops out of Kobe’s mouth. I look closer at the rug and notice that he has chewed an entire portion about the size of a baseball off of the rug. Since it is nowhere to be found I can only conclude that he has ingested it. But WTF? What kind of dog eats a rug? And then I remember… While Wade was slicing the turkey earlier that day some of the turkey juice had spilled out onto the floor. We thought we had gotten it all wiped up but some of it must have landed on the rug b/c the way Kobe was going to town on that rug was amazing.
He is now a practiced rug muncher which is funny b/c I always thought he was gay. I mean, the only other dog he likes and plays with is Bo Naughty and when I say “likes” I mean doesn’t snarl at and when I say “plays with” I mean humps. The rest of our evening was spent making sure Kobe didn’t throw up or shit red rug all over the place (which he never did) and gambling at dice (I won $10) and drinking more and more wine. Yippie.
I’m still waiting for that red rug to show up…

My Mom, Aunt Ranee, Kara and I consumed what can only be approximated as a tub of wine on Thanksgiving (the men got annoyed and watched football). Things that happened after that I don’t have the sharpest recollection of however Wade has graciously reminded me of some of them:
- The heel on my boot broke off (due to my clumsy clomping around drunk I’m sure) and I begged Wade to fix it w/ super glue “right this instance”.
- We found the game ‘Girl Talk’ in the basement and brought it upstairs. I proceeded to put ‘zit’ stickers on everyone in attendance. My Mom and Aunt Ranee went over board and completely zitted their faces (see below).
- We played Scattergories and on one round I could only think of 2 words. Two! That is the equivalent of me becoming legally retarded. Needless to say, I lost badly.
- The barstool got sick of my drunk ass and kicked me off of it and I fell flat on my ass. Barstool - 1; Kellie - way too many.
- I whined to Wade that I was going to make an awful mother whenever we have a kid (I’m sure this drunk banter about kids is due to the fact that EVERYONE I know either already has a kid or is in the midst of having one and I’m just not ready yet!)
- My Mom (who has wanted a grandkid since the second we walked down the aisle) said that if I didn’t want to have a kid I shouldn’t have one then, to which I replied that Wade would divorce me if I didn’t give him a baby and began whining about it to them all (I’m sure Wade was super pleased about this).
- I bitched my lazy ass sister out for not wanting to come back to our “Wonderful Thanksgiving Festivus” after they were done at her boyfriend’s and guilted her into coming back. I’m sure she regretted that decision as soon as she saw how seriously drunk my Mom and I were.
- We drunkenly drew on a canvas my mom had that she wanted to paint something on and I declared we were going to be the next Picasso and Monet.

You Can’t Put a Price on a Spider Picture
So my dad sent me a forward the other day & I got such a giggle out of it I thought I'd share it with you all. The only thing my dad said about the forward was: funny. I couldn't sum it up any better. Silly people make my day & I’m having a bit of blogging block. So here goes (read it, it’s worth the click I swear, & if for some absurd reason you don’t think it ends up being worth it I will allow you to post hate comments on my blog, really, go ahead, I dare you):

Wade & I had our anniversary dinner at Kincaid’s last week & it was delicious & I was tipsy off of wine & mojitos & everything was great in life. It was a fabulous time but Kincaid’s is way too pricey. We had a $20 gift card & still ended up shelling out $85. For only 2 people that is ridonkulous. Haven’t they heard? There’s a recession going on. Get with the program people! Guess this week’s dinners are Easy Mac & Ramen. Thank goodness Thursday is Thanksgiving so I get to eat my parent’s delicious cooking on Thursday & then Wade's mom's cooking on Friday! Yes! Double Thanksgivings!
We also went to see ‘Wicked’ at the Orpheum on Saturday night w/ a huge group of people. I only knew about 1/3 of them but it was a good time. The show was GREAT! I loved it. The only thing that sucked was the Orpheum’s seats. That theater is gorgeous but its seating is very outdated, small, & uncomfortable & it was hard for me to see around the person’s head in front of me (& it’s not b/c I’m a midget, I'm just vertically challenged a little, & the lady's head in front of me wasn't abnormally huge or anything, but the layout just sucks in the theater, I would seriously hate to be any taller than me there though b/c there's NO foot room!)* Anyway, I hope everyone had an excellent weekend & I'll probably be off until after the holiday, so I’ll talk to you then!
Happy early Thanksgiving everyone! As I always say, eat it up! You can exercise later!
