I Left My Heart in Chi-town

I've always loved Chicago. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad time there and last weekend was no exception. We have several college friends that live in Chi-town and we decided to take a weekend to visit them. So we headed out Friday afternoon to Naperville, Illinois! Lucky for us, our friends, Bartels and Bill, had graciously agreed to let us crash at their place (thanks guys!!!).

The Three Stooges

Friday night we went out to a bar and caught up with some other good friends, Tai and Alyssa. It was great to see them and Alyssa looks so cute being pregnant! :) Following up the bar time was Wii time! We bowled like pros! Well at least I did. Kara didn’t do too hot, but she’s new so I guess I’ll give her that. I don’t know why I don’t have any pictures from Friday night (damn it!) but we had a great time!

Saturday we woke up bright and early to head out to Wrigley for the noon game. Our plan was to take the 9:20 am train into the city, catch a cab and be at the stadium by about 10:45. The plan didn’t exactly work out quite that well though.
Todd & Wade had to "scissor" on the train... I think they secretly liked it. :)

Our train broke down at the stop just before ours (unfortunately for my parents who were also in town and had gotten on that train and were stuck for over an hour!). So we jumped on a different train and didn’t get to the stadium until the first pitch was thrown! We were in a huge rush to say the least since our friend Paul and his girlfriend Holly were waiting for us and we had bleacher seats so we were pretty much screwed in where we’d be able to sit. Thanks to a few other fellow bloggers, Doni, Phampants and Mawls, Wade and I had the opportunity to sit centerfield for the first 3 innings. Thanks guys! It was great to get to see/meet you all! (And thanks Doni for this great pic!) After that we joined up with the friends we came with for the rest of the game. Thanks to Wrigley for the tasty slushy lemonade vodkas and beers I was feeling REALLY happy after the game. In fact, I couldn’t even tell you the score. I just knew that the CUBBIES WON!!!
Mawls, Me, Doni & Pham @ the game

We headed south on Sheffield to a bar for some more drinks and eats, which was a necessity at this point since I was pretty toasty.

After some fried mac and cheese bites and a chicken quesadilla we headed down to Taste of Lincoln to see one of our favorite bands from college, Hello Dave. They are great. Nuf said. I danced like I should have been in special ed classes all through life and had an utter and unbelievable blast! It definitely helps when you are surrounded by fun friends and I’ve got to say we have some of the BEST! I even purposefully spilled beer down Paul’s shirt so that he could get in on the “spilled drink” look that Bartels and Gossen were so nicely sporting.

Bill was being a wuss b/c he was hungover so I took a picture of him drinking "girly" drinks and holdin my purse. :)
Chicago PBR! Nothing but the BEST!

Rock stars!
We love Hello Dave!

Thanks guys for making our weekend in Chicago so much stinking fun! You guys rock the cashba. Hope to see you guys REAL soon!

Wordless Wednesday

So today won't be wordless, but I'm gonna keep it short. We've been busy. Swamped in fact. I haven't had time to read any blogs let alone post on mine. Hopefully next week will be better.

I'm taking this Wordless Wednesday back in time. Five years ago. Dang! Look at me! It's weird how fast time flies. This feels like just yesterday. Okay, not yesterday. But maybe just a year ago or so. Definitely not 5 years ago! Wade and I had been together for 2 years at this point. We look so young. And my hair looks like crap! But that beer looks mighty tasty. Das Boot!
Also in Wii Fit news, I've knocked my age down to 28! Yippee! I'm now one year less than my actual age. Although I still think it is all bullshit.

F off Wii Fit!

So I had my first encounter w/ my new Wii Fit the other night and it asked me to perform some random “balance” tests and crud. By combining the results of these tests and my actual age, weight, height, etc it determined that my Wii Fit age is….

Fourty-fucking-three!

Seriously? 43? Man. I need to work on my posture or something. I know I’m a klutz and therefore lack a certain sense of balance and trip over everything, but really? Am I so completely unbalanced that it considers me 14 years older than real life? Dang. Getting old sucks donkey penis.

I guess I’ll be working out on my Wii Fit a lot in order to get my Wii age down to my actual age. I’ll keep you posted as to how my progress goes. Or maybe I won’t. Who knows.

(On a side note it said Wade was 27. WTF? His Wii age is actually younger than he really is. Screw off Wade. Just kidding. Don’t. I love you.)

* Update: I typed this up and forgot to post it. Since I first wrote it I have dropped my Wii Fit age down to 39. I am still 10 freaking years over my actual age. Can someone please buy me some granny panties? I seem to be needing some.

Talk Dirty to Me...

So the time has come for an update. I haven’t posted in almost 3 weeks now (if you can really count my last post since I was just ranting). Unfortunately not a lot has happened in these 3 weeks either. Wade traveled to Auburn, Austin and all over California each week. And I was home alone enjoying the weather, taking Kobe on walks, starting my bike training and catching up on my TV shows I had on DVR. I know, VERY exciting!

We ended up purchasing a Wii finally. After Wade had kept saying how much he wanted one I finally said if he could find one (since they always sell out) he could get it. And lo and behold, Target had 4 available. He rushed down there and bought one. I’ve got to admit it is a lot of fun. I was skeptical. We only have the game it came with right now. It has 5 different sports games on it; boxing, bowling, baseball, tennis and golf. You can build your own “Mii” person so it can actually look like you on the screen. And the best thing yet… Mario Cart is coming out for it very soon (maybe already has!) We are buying that! I LOVE Mario Cart! And we are going to get Guitar Hero too. That game is so damn addicting.

Other than that we’ve gotten some yard work in, Wade has worked on his race bike and we’ve gone out to friends b-day parties. Seems all our friends are turning 30. I’ve still got a year to go on that milestone, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like helping them celebrate! We got to help Tiff celebrate last Saturday at the Muddy Pig and then onto Sweeney’s. I had a few too many White Russian’s, but still kicked ass at darts w/ Tera. Nice work T-Dawg! Not sure how I still managed to hit the board, oh wait, I didn’t about ½ the time. Ha!

Some exciting news coming up in July, we just got Poison tickets for their show at Jackpot Junction! It’s going to be a girls night out (obviously b/c Wade wouldn’t be caught dead at a Poison concert). We are actually taking a Poison Concert Bus up there and it takes us back too, all for FREE! The concert tickets weren’t free of course, but not very expensive either. For any of you that are fans of “Rock of Love” you can now be jealous. That show was GREAT! There was so much drama and so many white trash chicks fighting over the tight jeaned, headbanded Bret Michaels. Nice. Although I’ve got to admit, he doesn’t look half bad. And he does still have hair! I was questioning that b/c we never got to see him w/o his headband, but they finally showed it and the hair is still there! So really, if it weren’t for Wade (and the fact that Bret is probably 100% disease infected) I’d tap that. He’s a hot rocker, don’t deny you wouldn’t too! Ha ha!

Coming up this weekend… The greatest cover band of all time: Zed Leppelin! If any of you are fans of Led Zeppelin then they are a must see. They sound exactly like them. Kara and my mom are even coming up for it. So good times will definitely be had by all. (And bonus: A GNR cover band is their opening act!) Awesome. Here are some pics from one of the last times we got to see them at Primetime.

Catch ya on the flipside!
