Charlie Updates!
She loves Kobe. Unfortunately the feeling is not mutual. |
Charlie is doing great. She's learning more and more words all the time it seems. Her current words are mama, dada, doggie, up (or uppy), no and baby. And she's tried to say bye bye a couple times as well but it sounds like buh-buh. Which is close enough in my book!
She's still not walking although she can. I make her do it everyday and she will walk from me to whatever is closest to grab onto (about 6-7 steps) but the second she wants to come back to me she plops down on her butt and scoots over to me. Either she's just a scaredy cat or she's really freaking lazy. I'm going to go with scared. :) The thing that mystifies me is that when she does walk she is very steady on her feet. She goes slow so she doesn't fall and doesn't waver at all. So she can do it perfectly, she just chooses not to. I guess probably b/c butt scooting is so much faster and efficient! She is very good at climbing stairs though. Unfortunately she has not mastered how to get down from the stairs yet so she'll climb all the way to the top and then I try to show her how to scoot down them on her butt and she screams. Baby steps, baby steps.
She loves to give kisses. I ask for a kiss and she'll give me one or I'll tell her to give her baby a kiss and she smacks one on her. Her kisses are great although I'm sure most people probably wouldn't think so considering she comes at you with her mouth wide open and just plants her mouth on you and drools all over. Very hygienic. Probably the reason that whenever she seems to get a runny/stuffy nose I come down w/ one as well!
Daddy love. <3 |
She's been fighting her naps a little bit lately which is kind of annoying b/c then I've got a sleepy, crabby baby until she finally decides to go to sleep. She must not understand it all. In order to not be a total crab ass she needs to take a nap but she cries when I lay her down. Luckily it's not EVERY nap time and it seems that it is worse for her at daycare than at home but still. And if she doesn't have her little lovey (blankie) forget about it. She will not sleep at home without it. It's satin on one side and a really soft fuzzy fabric on the other and she rubs it all over her face as she sucks her thumb. It's really pretty adorable if you ask me.
Her current favorite toys are cars. She has a little pink one that she LOVES and pushes it around everywhere. There is also a horse on wheels that she pushes around too. Basically anything with wheels she loves. She scoots around on her butt pushing them in front of her and I'll say "vroom, vroom" and she grins ear to ear. She carries them around with her all the time. She also likes her princess mobile too. She'll walk behind it and ride on it and pushes the horn over and over and over again. Honka-honka!
Everyone look out! Minor on the road! |
She loves Word World and the Cat In The Hat on TV. She dances to their theme songs and gets totally entranced by them. I let her watch them b/c they are educational. Haha, and mama needs some down time too who am I kidding! Anyway, she's quite the good dancer. Her key moves are head banging, raising the roof and spirit fingers. She even threw some fist pumps the other day. I was impressed. She must have been paying attention when mommy was watching Jersey Shore the other day. Ha! Speaking of mimicking things, she loves it when we stick out our tongues at her and she promptly flings hers out and then pushes it in and out over and over. Teaching her nothing but good manners in our house!
Totally not copying what I'm doing. Ha! |
She's moved on up to a big girl booster chair. We were sick of the huge high chair taking up so much space in our small kitchen so we decided to make the switch and she loves it. We can all actually sit down and eat dinner together now! It's great! She's still a picky eater and doesn't eat much it seems. I'm sure when I bring her in for her 15 month appointment she'll still be in the 2nd or 3rd percentile for weight. I'm not sure what to do about it but I suppose she's healthy, just skinny.
Other than that not too much is new around here. Wade is currently in Europe for the whole week. He left Saturday afternoon and doesn't get back until Friday afternoon. Luckily for me we have awesome neighbors who invited us over for a delicious dinner last night and my mom is coming up Wed afternoon and then Kara, Todd and my dad are coming up Thurs night. Thank goodness b/c it gets to be a little much w/ just Charlie to hang out with! (I love her and all but I need some adult conversation too as I can only handle so much mama, dada, uppy, doggie, baby speak.)
Okay, I guess that wasn't that quick but whatever. I've got time to kill now.

No! Jack-o-lantern! No!
We carved Charlie's 1st Jack-o-lantern on Sunday afternoon. She thought it was pretty cool until she tried to eat the raw seeds, I scolded her and told her not to and she cried. I'm such a mean mom. :)
Regardless, she still thought it was pretty sweet which is evidenced by her numerous "oooooooo" faces.
New this week, she is now saying the word "no". I knew this was only a matter of time until she started saying this to me. Luckily as of now she has only said it a handful of times but I know in a short time it will be the only word she will say to me. This parenting thing is about to get difficult. Yowzers.
Loves,
Kel

Pumpkin Patch, Racing & Conquering the TUNNEL!
What a great weekend and it isn't quite over yet! Our weather could not get any better. It's been around 80 degrees and sunny the entire weekend! Loving this "Indian Summer". (Does anyone even know why they call it that???) Anyway, this post will be mostly pictures b/c I took a shit ton of them!
Friday night we didn't do much. Went out to eat at Joe Senser's which is always good. Charlie crop dusted the entire restaurant when we left. How do I know this? B/c I was carrying her out of the restaurant and I could feel my hand vibrating from her farts. Ha! Good thing we were leaving! Hope it wasn't too smelly! :)
Saturday started out relaxing and slow paced but after Charlie's nap we picked it up! We headed down to Sever's corn maze which was great! We had never been there before but our old neighbors said it was a good time so we decided to check it out. At $13 per person it isn't cheap, actually kind of a rip, but there is a lot to do so I guess it's worth it in the end. And luckily Charlie is still young enough that she is free. Phew! We started out by getting some cheese curds and a corn dog. Tasty! Then we headed to the corn pit. Charlie LOVED it! It was so fun to watch her in there. She would sit and stare at all the other kids in the pit and then get a huge grin on her face and start picking up the corn and letting it all fall out of her hands and then flinging it around. She couldn't get enough of it!
After that we decided to check out the "exotic" petting zoo. (Get your minds out of the gutter! They were animals! Ha!) They had camels, alpacas, goats, sheep, some kind of deer like animal, wallabys, and several other little animals. Charlie was terrified of the goats for some reason which was funny but we didn't want to scar her for life so we decided to head out to the pig race that was going to start any minute.
To say Charlie was not impressed with the pig race was an understatement. She could care less. She was more interested in people watching and playing with a stick and barely glanced at the pigs but it was still pretty funny to watch.
One last stop back in the corn pit and we decided we'd better head home so we could get some dinner in Charlie before heading out again. I can't wait to go back next year when Charlie will be able to enjoy the pumpkin patch even more. There was SO much more to do that she was still too little for. A corn maze and straw bale maze, jungle gyms, giant slides, giant blow up jumping "pillows" and a magic show just to name a few things we didn't get to do. I can guarantee we'll be back again next year!
After getting a bit of food in Charlie's belly and picking all the stowaway pieces of corn out of her diaper and clothes we headed out again to go down to Elko for the "Eve of Destruction"! They have all sorts of different vehicle races going on. Motorcycles, cars, school buses, etc. They even have some monster trucks and this time they had an actual tank that crushed some cars. Charlie LOVED the monster trucks. She totally zoned out when they were out driving around. It was fun to watch her see all this kind of stuff for the first time. Her eyes would get huge and she would do her ever famous "Ooooooooooo" face. I think she set a new record for how many times she made that face in one day. Hilarious.
We headed home a bit early b/c Charlie was exhausted. She zonked out the minute we hit the road. What a fun and busy day for our little peanut! She's such a treat! I just love taking her new places to see what she thinks of everything!
Today we are relaxing, cleaning up a bit, watching our fantasy football teams and playing. Charlie finally conquered her fear of the crawl tunnel she got for her birthday and now LOVES the thing so she crawls back and forth, back and forth, back and forth through it over and over again. As soon as Charlie wakes up from her nap we are going to carve the pumpkin that Omi and Paps gave her the other weekend. We'll see if she likes to stick her hand in the pumpkin goo. Should be fun to watch her face when she grabs it for the first time. Who wants to bet she makes her "Oooooooooo" face? :)
